Youth Sail WA

Zhik Youth Sail is an event for youth sailors U23, comprises a coaching clinic and a regatta. All junior and youth classes and classes sailed by sailors under 23 are welcome.

Youth Sail is focussed on growing participation in junior and youth classes, increasing sailors’ skills, fostering social connection, and building friendship and community between our youth sailors.

Coaching Clinic

The coaching clinic is run by Australian Sailing qualified coaches and includes a dinner with an Olympian guest speaker.

Class Rules and Compliance

Presented by International Measurer Barry Johnson – Sunday 28 September 12:30PM to 1:30PM

Sailors and parents are invited to join International Measurer Barry Johnson in the lunch break on Sunday, to hear briefly on the importance of compliance with Class Rules. Learn what the Technical Committee expect at an event, why compliance is important, and how you can be involved as a Class Measurer. Please feel free to bring questions, and engage in a discussion with Barry, as he shares his vast knowledge. Barry has attended five Olympic Games as a Measurer, since Sydney 2000 and is the Chief Measurer for the 49er Class.

Olympian Guest Speakers - Sunday 28 September

Zoe Thomson and Nia Jerwood

Zoe represented Australia at the Paris Olympics in the ILCA 6 and Nia represented Australia at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics in the 470.
Zoe and Nia will share their sailing stories and experience of sailing at international level.

Green Fleet Clinic

The 3 day Green fleet coaching clinic is targeted towards sailors who have recently completed a Tackers 3 learn to sail program or equivalent. The focus is around having fun and learning new skills. The Green fleet clinic is open to these classes - Optimist, Open Skiff, Pelican and Minnow. There is no green fleet racing in the WA Youth Championships.
A limited number of club boats are available for green fleet sailors who don't have their own boat, you can select this option in the registration form.
