Meet the Coaches -

Ben Hinks - ILCA

Ben currently competes in the 470 class as a part of the Australian Sailing Futures Squad. He recently returned from competing in Europe at the Sailing Grand Slam series. Some of his highlights so far include being selected to compete at the Youth World Championships in 2022, and placing 7th u21 at the 470 Junior Worlds in 2024. He looks forward to coaching at the Youth Sail SA, and hopes he can share his knowledge and experience he has gained over his years sailing to the next generation. 

Sophie Jackson - 420

Sophie is the current Australian 470 National Champion, campaigning for the 2028 Olympics, and a member of the Australian Sailing Futures Team & scholarship holder at the Western Australian Institute of Sport. As a 420 sailor she represented Australia in two World Championships, with a best result of 6th. Sophie brings a lot of coaching experience, with over 8 years of sailing coaching, and a professional background as a PE and Outdoor Education teacher.  She is super passionate about sailing, as well as health and fitness, and loves to inspire young sailors to grow their own passion and develop their skills in sailing.
