Will and Sam Phillips

Will and Sam Phillips are locally home-grown Victorian champions who grew up in Sorrento and represented Australia in the 49er class at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.
Their sailing journey began with junior success in the Minnow class before developing their skiff skills at Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club — a pathway that ultimately propelled them to the Olympic stage.
Both still love sailing Couta Boats and boating in general, and they continue to inspire Victoria’s next generation of high-performance sailors.

Tess Lloyd 

Tess Lloyd started sailing a Minnow at just five years old at Parkdale Yacht Club and always dreamed of competing at an Olympic Games. As a talented young sailor, Tess loved her sailing at Parkdale YC and Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club and was named Victorian Female Sailor of the Year in 2015 following outstanding performances at the 29er Australian National Championships and 29er Australian Youth Nationals.
With her sights firmly set on the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Tess set ambitious goals early. However, her Olympic debut would need to wait. Despite a strong and successful campaign leading into Rio, a decision was made not to send an Australian 49erFX team to the Games. Four years later and still determined, Tess finally received the news she had been dreaming of as Australia’s representative in the 49erFX class alongside Jaime Ryan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
