EVENT INFORMATION
Youth Sail NT is focused on growing participation in junior and youth classes, improving skills, fostering social connection, and building friendship and community between our youth sailors. There is a division for everyone so don’t be deterred if you are new to racing. GREEN FLEET (boat supplied)
For sailors who have recently completed or are participating in Tackers and Adventure Club. This fleet is about having fun, making friends, and learning new skills. It is composed of a 2-day fun coaching clinic followed by a 2-day fun regatta. Racing is non-competitive and includes games, sailing around inflatable toys and adventure activities whilst being run alongside the main regatta. Sailors will have the support of instructors throughout the event. Green Fleet is sailed in the DSC Opti fleet. Suitable for 7 to12-year-olds. RS QUEST (boat supplied)
For older kids that don’t own a boat yet and haven’t jumped into club sailing. Perfect for kids participating in Youth Fleet or similar DSC programs. It’s the skippers’ job to coordinate their own crew if you need help speak to our friendly instructors during Youth Fleet. Quests have a 2-day coaching clinic prior to the event to assist in building skills to ensure sailors are confident to race without instructors present. It’s a great way to meet other junior sailors and have fun with your mates during the holidays. Suitable for 13 to18-year-olds. MINNOW & ILCA
The Minnows will be split into two fleets to ensure kids are racing and being coached with peers at a similar level to maximise enjoyment. Coaches will be responsible for allocating sailors into their respective fleets. All Minnows will be racing together on the same course and start line with separate results. ILCA 4 & ILCA 6 fleets will be racing together on the same course & start line. Results will be separated into respective categories.
CHARTER BOATS
ILCA charters are privately owned boats that have been made available to interstate sailors. Email Claire Hall, NT Manager with your requirements claire.hall@sailing.org.au and she will get work on finding a boat. The NT Minnow Association has 5 x Minnows available for hire. The best way is to contact them via email at ntminnows@gmail.com with your request.
VOLUNTEERS
Parents, if you can support the event through volunteering, please let us know. If you are unsure about anything volunteering reach out to use via rcsailing@dwnsail.com.au and we will be in touch. DSC volunteers must a club member (any kind), hold a current Ochre Card & register in the DSC Volunteer Portal Once your registration has been approved you can navigate the calendar to find Youth Sail NT and nominate for roles. If you are new to volunteering there are roles both on and off the water, even if it’s just assisting kids up the ramp or to cook the BBQ all help is appreciated.
