Registrations open for WA’s premier youth events, the Westsail coaching clinic and WA Youth Championships.

This year’s events will be hosted by Hillarys Yacht Club, in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean.

The four-day Westsail coaching clinic will be held from Saturday 26 September, to Tuesday 29 September. Following Westsail, the WA Youth Championships will be raced on Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October.

We welcome all sailors and classes to attend Westsail and the WA Youth Championships. If you are a Green Fleet level sailor or unsure of your suitability to attend, please contact your Club Coach in the first instance, or the Australian Sailing WA office for guidance.

Westsail Coaches

WA’s best Coaches are involved in Westsail, with the event’s 30+ year history in WA creating a strong legacy. This year our Coaching group will be further bolstered by the addition of a professional development day, held on Wednesday 16 September.

Ric Charlesworth will be the keynote speaker on this day. Ric is sporting icon, both for his playing efforts and later his coaching successes. Please read more about Ric Charlesworth HERE. In addition to Ric, attendees will also hear from Belinda Stowell, Matt Jerwood and Andy Fethers.

All Westsail Coaches, Australian Sailing accredited Coaches and those aspiring Coaches enrolled in the September Sailing Coach Course are invited to attend. Participant numbers are limited and attendees are requested to submit an EOI to attend HERE.

Funding Available for Regional Sailors

With thanks to the Ron Tough Yachting Foundation, funding is available for regional sailors to attend the Westsail coaching clinic and WA Youth Championships, hosted by Hillarys Yacht Club.

Funding will be shared amongst applicants, upon completion of the following simple form, available HERE.

Please note the closing date for applications is Friday 4 September.

Applicants will be advised of a discount code, in order to register for Westsail and the WA Youth Championships at a reduced fee on Monday 7 September.

Funding is also available separately, through the DLGSC Regional Athlete Travel Subsidy Scheme, details are available HERE.
