ENTRIES WILL OPEN ON 1ST JULY

Zhik Youth Sail QLD is an event for youth sailors U23. All junior and youth classes and classes sailed by sailors under 23 are welcome. The event is focused on growing participation in junior and youth classes, increasing sailors’ skills, fostering social connection, and building friendship and community among our youth sailors.

Coaching Clinic

The 3 day coaching clinic is run by Australian Sailing qualified coaches and includes a guest speaker presentation. Performance Pathway coaches will be supporting and mentoring the coaches during the clinic and observing sailors during the championships.

Guest Speakers

On Tuesday 22nd September after sailing, current Australian Sailing Team member Mara Stransky who represented Australia at the Tokyo Olympics and AST ILCA 6 coach Mikael Lundh will speak to the sailors about their sailing journey and comepting at the highest level.

Green Fleet Program

Green Fleet is open to Optimist, Sabot, and Open Skiffs. The Green fleet program will be conducted at the Causeway Lake Sailing Village on the waters of the Causeway Lake, Yeppoon. 

The Green fleet program is targeted towards sailors who have recently completed a Tackers 3 learn to sail program or equivalent. The focus is around having fun and learning new skills as an introduction to racing. Green fleet is six days of sailing including fun introductory racing conducted by qualified instructors/foundation coaches and is an ideal way to participate in your first regatta.

There will be no results recorded for the green fleet, the focus is on participation and learning to race. Every participant will take home a prize.

Spirit of S.A.I.L.I.N.G. Award

Australian Sailing is proud to announce the launch of the new Spirit of S.A.I.L.I.N.G. Award, a values-based recognition program that will be presented at all Zhik Youth Sail events.

The Spirit of S.A.I.L.I.N.G. Award celebrates youth sailors who demonstrate outstanding character both on and off the water, recognising not just how they race, but how they treat others, respond to challenges, and contribute to the sailing community. This year we thank our long standing sponsor in Ronstan for providing their Clearstart watches as prizes across the events. There will be posters dispayed at the event with a QR code linked to the voting form.
